Locus Coeruleus Activation and Neural Plasticity - Neuroscience Seminar Series
Thursday, Nov. 14
4 p.m. - 5 p.m. Location: CRA 12.120

Neuroscience Seminar Series

Title - Locus Coeruleus Activation and Neural Plasticity

Speaker - Carolyn Harley, PhD
Memorial University

New, more nuanced, views of locus coeruleus function are emerging with the use of modern biological tools to investigate its organization and actions. Some of the conundrums posed by these data will be highlighted.  Locus coeruleus activation effects on long-term plasticity in hippocampus will be briefly reviewed. GANE and network reset hypotheses of locus coeruleus-norepinephrine system-wide effects will be updated. Finally, phasic and tonic optogenetic locus coeruleus activation experiments suggesting optimal behavioral and plasticity influences depend on temporal patterns, rather than temporal frequencies, will be presented.

There will also be a videolink to JO 4.306 for the lecture.

Light refreshments will be available.
