Juneteenth Celebration: Family Reunion
Friday, Jun. 14
5 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Location: Visitor Center Atrium

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free.

UT Dallas’ Juneteenth Celebration features:

  • Live band
  • Health and wellness fair featuring the Student Wellness Center, Student Health Center, American Diabetes Association, and Environmental Health and Safety
  • 16th Annual Staff Bake-off
