The Mathematical Sciences Department invites you to a Statistics colloquium given by Dr. David Landriault, University of Waterloo.

In this talk, we consider  the number of incurred but not reported claims in insurance applications. This is a research topic particularly relevant to insurers given their obligation to first estimate and later book an IBNR reserve in their financial reporting statement. For Poisson claim arrival processes, the number of IBNR claims have been studied by many and a variety of results are known in this case. However, for the more general renewal claim arrival process, this is not the case. Therefore, we propose to examine in more detail some particular renewal claim processes. Distributions and/or moments of the number of IBNR claims will be obtained.

This talk is based on joint work with Ling Guo, Yafang Wang and Gordon E. Willmot.

Coffee will be served in FO 2.610F at 1:30 PM.
