Programs and partnerships between art museums and medical schools

Art and Medical School Partnerships

Medical students, interns, residents, and fellows are taught to look at works of art and in turn relate these skills to their own professional practices. By doing so, they develop observation, interpretation, empathy, and collaboration skills in order to enhance their clinical diagnosis and practices.

Center for Visual Arts in Healthcare at Brigham & Women’s Hospital

The Edith O'Donnell Institute of Art History partners with the Center for Visual Arts in Healthcare at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, the second largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School and the largest hospital in the Longwood Medical Area in Boston, Massachusetts, to collect resources from participants in the field.

The Center for Visual Arts in Healthcare website at www.artsinhealthcare.org/eodiah/resources concurrently lists the latest resources collected.
