Conducting an experimental research and education program in wireless communication systems. Teaching various undergraduate and graduate courses in wireless communications/real-time DSP. Director of Wireless Information Systems Lab. and Co -director of UTD-SMU Antenna Measurement Lab.
Taught Introduction to Wireless Communications Systems and Signaling and Coding for Wireless Communications Systems (graduate courses) which cover principle, practice, system overview of mobile systems, modulation,demodulation, coding, encoding, multiple-access techniques., and performance characterization of mobile systems. Taught Probability and Random Processes and Signals and Systems (undergraduate courses).
Developed a new course: DSP-Based Design Project (senior design project course) trains students in digital communications systems, real-time digital signal processing algorithms, and programmable digital signal processors. Students design and build DSP-based systems in software using a digital signal processing board and tools.
Developed theory, fast algorithms, and multi-user channel and symbol estimation algorithms for wireless communications applications. Applications include TDMA, W-CDMA, MC-CDMA, and smart antenna systems.
Conducting doctoral research in code-division-multiple-access (CDMA) and orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing (OFDM) systems using smart antenna arrays. Conducting experiments for modeling of vector channel models.
Led a multi-national Research and Development group to standardize 3rd generation wireless communication technology under International Telecommunication Union (IMT-2000) and to evaluate the proposal for the new generation wireless communications standard, TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access using Smart Antenna), submitted by China. Developed algorithms and simulations for wireless Internet based on smart antenna, CDMA, and OFDM systems. Conducted experiments, developed algorithms, and implemented C++ programs for cell-specific smart antenna coverage and probing beampatterns.
Created algorithms, simulations, and DSP programs for effective carrier tracking and timing correction for real-time synchronous-CDMA Systems.
Created and integrated real-time DSP algorithms for wireless modems in fixed group terminals for Cwills wireless local loop system. Implemented group 3 facsimile function for the wireless local loop system.
Created algorithms and simulations for channel estimation in TDMA and asynchronous-CDMA with Smart Antenna Systems. Graded tests, prepared computer projects, maintained records, and tutored students in the Wireless Communications co urse.
Graded tests, prepared computer projects, maintained records, and tutored students in Advanced Signal Processing course. Created algorithms and simulations for Smart Antenna Systems using different protocols such as TDMA and CDMA.
Prepared multimedia presentations for the Introduction to Telecommunications course. Designed smart antenna wireless system experiments and extended or modified algorithms to be implemented in wireless communica tions.
Designed and implemented digital and IF circuitry for smart antenna wireless communication testbed, which was the first smart antenna testbed among US Universities.
