TASK:
You are to explore research areas in Aural
Rehabilitation and choose one. There are two parts to this assignment:
Part A: Summarizing Two Research Articles on
an Aural Rehabilitation Topic
Part B: Summarizing Five Websites on the
SAME topic as in Part A
FORMAT:
Part A:
1) Conduct a literature search on one Aural Rehab topic using Psych, Medline, and/or ERIC databases. Find at least 10 articles (preferably less than 30)
2) Print out the search (with or without abstracts, your choice)
3) Choose two articles to read and summarize. These should be research articles including a question to be addressed, methods, and results sections. Use a highlighter to mark these two articles on the search printout.
4) For each article, write a one-page summary (single-spaced) beginning with the title and reference at the top in APA style (see APA manual in the library or my office), followed by these subject headings: rationale, research questions, methodology, results, and conclusions.
5) Turn in the two page summaries and the printout.
Part B:
1) Conduct a search using your favorite search engine to find at least 5 websites dealing with the same aural rehabilitation topic addressed in Part A.
2) View the 5 sites and compose a brief summary of each (3-5 sentences)
3) Turn in a one-page single-spaced summary of the 5 sites beginning each with the complete web address.
Cover Page:
Staple Part B behind Part A with a cover page containing your name and topic title for each Part.
GRADING:
Points will be assigned as follows:
25 Selection of articles (related topic, research study)
25 Selection of websites (all related in some way, useful information)
100 Accuracy of information (does the summary make sense)
25 Form (title, APA style for references, subheadings, complete web addresses)
25 Grammar, Spelling, Punctuation (5 points off for each spelling error!)
