The RE-Tools Download and Installation Guide

Back | Releases

  1. Download and install StarUML (click this link to download StarUML).
  2. Download and run the RE-Tools setup file (click this link to download the RE-Tools). The setup file may be re-run to repair damaged installation, or to remove the tool.
  3. Once the installation is complete, a folder named "RE-Tools" should appear under the "modules" folder of StarUML installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\StarUML\modules), as shown in Figure 1.

  1. Rename "Contributors.xml" in the "modules" folder to a different name, for instance to "Contributors-org.xml" as shown in Figure 2. This file contains the names of the StarUML's contributors. These names are automatically selected one at a time as the default name for each newly created model element, which would cause naming conflicts when the RE-Tools is used. By renaming this file, StarUML would instead generate a unique name each time using a prefix defined by the RE-Tools. To give credit to the contributors, the original "Contributors.xml" file is included here.
