Welcome to Ravi Prakash's home page
I am a professor in the Department
of Computer Science and the Collegium V Honors College at the University
of Texas at Dallas. I received
my Ph.D. in Computer and
Information Science from The Ohio
State
University. My Ph.D. advisor was Professor Mukesh Singhal.
My research interests include wireless networking, sensor
networking, mobile computing and distributed algorithms. I am a member
of the Distributed Systems
Laboratory at UT Dallas. I am the Chairman of the IEEE Dallas Section, and a member
of the UT Dallas Faculty Senate and Academic Council. In the past I have served as an associate editor of the
IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing and as the Secretary of the IEEE
Dallas Section. When not
watching Cyberchase, Word Girl, Curious George, Electric Company, etc.
in the company of my kids, I like to to listen to a variety of music
including Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, Nusrat Fateh
Ali Khan, Charlie Parker, k.d. lang. In a different era I used to have
enough time to watch movies, especially those directed by Martin Scoresese and/or
featuring Robert De Niro. Now, I live on a steady diet of Pixar movies, thanks to
my kids.
