Astronomy

I have always had this urge to know more about the universe. When I was young, I used to visit my grand parents who lived in a remote area where there were very few lights at night. In summers we would sleep outside under the sky. Usually before travelling to the dreamland, we would look for weather satellites in the night sky and used to compete as to how many one could find out. I did want to know more about so many stars that I could see but I had no source to learn more about them.

Few months back, I thought about getting a telescope for star gazing. Note that I had never used any instrument or for that matter even my naked eye to pin point astronomical objects in the sky. So I decided to give some air to this potential hobby and I did search work on the Internet. Up until then I had thought that a telecope is the most important instrument used for star gazing but a little digging helped me conclude that it is a binocular I should be looking for. I spent some time reading about astronomical binoculars and then finally selected one after reading some reviews on 'cloudy nights'.

There I was, with my Nikon Action 10x50 binoculars and the Open Source software Stellarium. I started looking for objects that I could see with my binoculars and as time went on I learned more and more about the night sky. It has been just a few months since I started this hobby but it is definitely a fabulous and an awe inspiring one.

Games

Among outdoor games, I love to play Cricket, whereas, Squash is my favorite when it comes to indoor games.

I love BZFlag, the open source 3D multiplayer tank battle game.
