Oaxaca Experience in Mexican History and Culture – Writers’ Workshop
Organizers of the Oaxaca Experience in Mexican History and
Culture invite applications for a summer writers’ workshop to take place in
Oaxaca, Mexico from June 19 to June 28, 2009.
During the workshop, senior scholars will offer their guidance to
writers of monographs and dissertations on Mexican history and culture. Workshop moderators will include Paul Vanderwood of San Diego State University, Liza Bakewell of
Brown University, Bill Beezley from the University of Arizona, and Bill French
from the University of British Columbia.
Writers will write daily and meet to collaborate with other participants
and to present their research to the Oaxaca Summer Institute graduate
seminar. Representatives of University
Presses will attend the final days of the workshop to discuss writing projects
with participants and to answer questions about the publishing process.
Space in the workshop is limited and preference will be given
to applicants who have completed the Ph.D. within the last five years.
Cost for the workshop is $1,600, which will cover the
expenses associated with workshop moderators, local housing accommodations and
meals, an afternoon glass of wine, and access to local university resources.
