Michael Hamblin joined the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas in 1999 to provide technical support for the rapidly growing research programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Mr. Hamblin's talents with workstation desktop support and system administration were quickly recognized, and he was recruited to serve as system administrator for the QuEST Forum TL9000™ Metrics Repository. His quality of work often went beyond the call of duty, earning him the Chlamtac Award for providing solutions for the Center for Advanced Telecommunications Systems and Services (CATSS).
After a brief appointment with Information Resources, Mr. Hamblin returned the Erik Jonsson School when his talents and knowledge of the school's unique computational needs were recognized as a strategic asset to the mission of the Electrical Engineering program.
Since that time, due to the growth of the Erik Jonsson School, the mandate of providing support for the Electrical Engineering school has grown considerably to include Telecom Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Bio-Engineering (added 2010), managing resources in numerous facilities across the UT Dallas campus. Mr. Hamblin has consistently provided leadership and direction when facing the unique technical challenges of the Erik Jonsson School.
Mr. Hamblin performed his undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering, with interests in Digital Signal Processing and Embedded Systems Software Development, completing his Senior Design project by developing an 8051 microcontroller based system embedded firmware. In September of 2008, Michael Hamblin married Tiffany I. Keen in Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas. Their first child, Matthew Alexander, was born in December 2009.
Mr. Hamblin's résumé is currently available as an unofficial PDF copy via his website.

Quotes
- "Tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito."
Virgil, The Aeneid, Book VI. Official Motto of The Ludwig von Mises Institute - "The main accomplishment of almost all organized protests is to annoy people who are not in them."
Dave Barry - "Where there is no law, but every man does what is right in his own eyes, there is the least of real liberty."
Henry M. Robert, Robert's Rules of Order preface, 1876 - "The point where living within the truth ceases to be mere negation of
living with a lie and becomes articulate in a particular way is the point at
which something is born that might be called the 'independent spiritual,
social, and political life of society.'"
Václav Havel, in "Power of the Powerless" - "A just law is a man-made code that squares with the moral law or the law of
God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. To
put it in the terms of Saint Thomas Aquinas, an unjust law is a human law
that is not rooted in eternal and natural law."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Letter from Birmingham Jail (April 1963) - "The majority of pacifists either belong to obscure religious sects or are
simply humanitarians who object to taking life and prefer not to follow
their thoughts beyond that point. But there is a minority of intellectual
pacifists, whose real though unacknowledged motive appears to be hatred of
western democracy and admiration for totalitarianism. Pacifist propaganda
usually boils down to saying that one side is as bad as the other, but if
one looks closely at the writing of the younger intellectual pacifists, one
finds that they do not by any means express impartial disapproval but are
directed almost entirely against Britain and the United States ..."
George Orwell, in "Notes on Nationalism" (May 1945) - "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims
may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under live robber
barons than under omnipotent moral busibodies. The robber baron's cruelty
may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those
who torment us for our own good, will torment us without end, for they do so
with the approval of their own conscience."
C.S. Lewis - "Instead of making our theological seminaries merely centres of religious
emotion, we shall make them battle-grounds of the faith, where, helped a
little by the experience of Christian teachers, men are taught to fight
their own battle, where they come to appreciate the real strength of the
adversary and in the hard school of intellectual struggle learn to
substitute for the unthinking faith of childhood the profound convictions of
full-grown men."
J. Gresham Machen, 1913 - "For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the
story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance, he is
about to conquer the highest peak, as he pulls himself over the final rock,
he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for
centuries."
Robert Jastrow, God and the Astronomers
