- I wish you a nice and a relaxing summer. In the fall, I teach OPRE 6366: Supply chain management. You may want to see the web page for OPRE 6366. Go back to my courses, click on OPRE 6366 and use the password "ilikescm".

- I have HW3 results. I hold office hours on Monday July 26 and Wednesday July 28, pls come to pick up your homeworks.

- Solutions to quiz 2. If you do not agree with your quiz 2 grade. 1. Compare with the solutions. 2. Talk to your TA. 3. Talk to your instructor.

- Solutions to quiz 1.

- moreLPproblems can be found here . Prof. Dawande presented these in his lecture. Please see these examples before your quiz.

- In Hw1, please only formulate the problems. Do not attempt to solve the problems numerically. Namely, in questions 3.4-9 and 3.4-17 of the textbook, do only part a) to formulate the problem.

- Welcome to my OPRE 6201 class. Please read these announcements first whenever you have a question. If your question is not answered, e-mail me.

- Please read the Background note to refresh your math skills by the 3. lecture.

- Cellular communication devices (phones, laptops, palm pilots, etc.) cannot be used during OPRE 6201 Quiz or Final.

- In terms of book you have 3 options. From most expensive to the cheapest: 1. Buy the textbook. 2. Buy the customized textbook available at the the off campus book store. Customized textbook covers all the chapters relevant for this course. 3. Do not buy anything, rely only on course notes (which are almost a book themselves). In this case, you will have to photocopy book questions when necessary. I cannot in any form publish/photocopy/e-mail these questions to you because all these actions violate copyright laws.

- I reserve the right to modify course notes before I discuss them. Any modification after the discussion will be announced here. N denotes course notes, S denotes course slides.

- Since I have many students, I cannot possibly send personal e-mails to tell grades.

- Previous cohort. Final averages: 77 in 2002, 74 in 2001, 79 in 2000. Quiz averages: 75 in 2002, 76 in 2001, 75 in 2000. Grades over the last 3 years of Cohort classes are surprisingly stable.

- Previous regular MBA. Final averages: 78 and 65 both in 2002, 66 and 64 both in 2001, 65 in 2000. Quiz averages 60 and 60 both in 2002, 70 and 68 both in 2001, no midterm given in 2000. Regular student quiz grades coming down but finals going up!

- Generally speaking, I give A to 30-40% of the class, B to to 35-40% and C to 30-20%. If your overall grade is below 40% of the total achievable grade, you will automatically get an F from this course.

- Midterm course evaluations/suggestions: Please fill out an evaluation form and put into my office. These evaluations are just for me to improve the course.

- If your Microsoft Office does not come with solver add-in, what to do? First secure the following files from a friend: Solver.xla (microsoft excel add in), Solver.cnt (cnt file), Solver (help file), Dotprd32 (microsoft excell xll add in), Solver32.dll. Copy these files into Program files/Microsoft office/Library/Solver. Before you need solver in excel click on Solver.xla, allow for macros. Go back to Excel, you will find solver add in under Tools menu. If you are brave enough, you may want to load Windows from scratch (not suggested due to instability) and set options to extensive set up.

- If the Simplex algebra bothers you, download the IOR tool from left . You need Java 2 Environment for this to work. Java 2 Environment is available here

- § is the section sign, for example § 1.7 is the first chapter of course notes section 7.
