>CHARACTER'S POST-CRISIS ORIGIN & HISTORY
>
>Ted Kord and his archaeologist teacher Dan Garrett went to a remote
>island to do research. While there they were kidnaped and Dan found the
>Beetle Scarab, once he touched he turned into the BLUE BEETLE! Sadly,
>Dan dies while freeing Ted from the island, but with his last breaths,
>Dan made Ted promise to continue the legacy of the Blue Beetle. Since
>the Beetle scarab perished with Dan, Ted forced himself to hone his body
>to perfection. He become the Azure Avenger known as BLUE BEETLE. As Ted
>Kord his dad left him Kord inc. when the business was flat broke. Ted
>made the business flourish and became wealthy once more. Everything
>seemed to be going great untill the re-animated corpse of Dan Garrett
>was brought back to life by the scarab to fight Ted to see which one of
>the 2 were the fittest to be Blue Beetle. Ted eventually won but decided
>not to use the scarab because it would have taken complete control over
>his thoughts.  During Crisis on Infinite Earths, Blue Beetle was among
>the heroes, who fought the Anti-Monitor.
>
>After Crisis, Beetle joined the Justice League during 'Legends'.
>In the Justice League, he became best friends with Michael Jon Carter,
>Booster Gold, who had travelleed back through time from the 25th
>century, to become a superhero in our time. Without Ted's corporate
>responsibilities, he became more laid back, and earned the reputation of
>a joker. The two of them defeated Ace of the Royal Flush Gang, and
>participated in a covert mission to Bialya against the Queen Bee. She
>planted hypnotic suggestions in Beetle which, when triggered, made him
>viciously attack Maxwell Lord. When Batman tried to stop him, Blue
>Beetle proved that he could hold his own against the world's greatest
>martial artist. The blocks put him into his first coma, but were finally
>removed by Nabu, the Lord of Order.
>
>Blue Beetle and Booster Gold had both lost companies in their careers,
>and tried a number of money-making stints together, including super
>repo-men, and, using League money, a casino and tourist resort on an
>island called Kooey Kooey Kooey, which was bankrupted by Major Disaster
>and Big Sur. Maxwell Lord decided to punish the duo by forcing them into
>menial labor around their headquarters. Booster Gold quit and formed his
>own super-team, called the Conglomerate, and Beetle fell into a state of
>neglect. His fitness suffered, and he began to retrain under General
>Glory. His teammate Guy Gardner made fun of him, and the two ended up in
>a one-on-one boxing match. Beetle was winning, when Guy cheated and
>ended up seriously hurting Ted.
>
>When he recovered, he was denied membership to both the Justice League
>and the Conglomerate because he was overweight, and so he and Power Girl
>went on a contest to lose weight. The league was reformed when Maxwell
>Lord recovered, and Beetle was reinstated. However, he was soon knocked
>into a coma by Doomsday, before the monster went on to kill Superman.
>While in a coma, he and the Atom's dreamscapes were assaulted by Dr.
>Destiny who created a parallel dark-JLA in the dreamscape.
>
>Beetle was back, and helped build armors for teammates Booster Gold and
>Guy Gardne (the latter wore his for a short while as Warrior, until Zero
>Hour made him part vuldarian), but he was reluctant to jump into the
>action, facing doubts about a career as a superhero after being placed
>into two comas. In the other best storyline of the series, "Judgement
>Day", Booster is killed, but Beetle builds him armor with life support
>so that he can continue to live. However, Blue Beetle's teammate Ice
>died, and, breaking an informal agreement among League members, he went
>on national television to discuss her death so that people would
>remember her as the hero she was.
>
>All three Leagues were in shambles, so Beetle and Booster joined with
>Captain Atom, Maxima, Amazing Man, and later Firestorm and the Wonder
>Twins, to found Extreme Justice, a proactive team trying to prevent
>troubles before they began. Ted discovered that his father had been
>selling KORD, Inc. designs to the highest bidder, regardless of the
>purpose of their use. The team embarked on a series of adventures
>against an insane government conspirator, Monarch, Star Sapphire and the
>Predator, the Legion of Doom, and other opponents. Beetle and Booster's
>friendship was tested when Ted began neglecting Booster in favor of
>partying with Firestorm, but Booster eventually was healed and Firestorm
>had severe alcohol problems. Ted also overcame his distrust of Captain
>Atom on this team and actually became a close friend of Cameron Scott.

>CHARACTER'S META-HUMAN POWERS   (If none, please put 'Mortal: N/A')
>
>Mortal: N/A

>WHAT ISSUE W/YOUR CHARACTER DID YOU LIKE BEST & WHY? (Min: 6 lines)
>
>My favourite Beetle-story is the issues of JLA, when Beetle and Booster
>tried to establish a tropical, JLA-themed casino and fun-park, and Major
>Disaster stopped by and blew the bank. Why: Because it illustrates
>several sides of Beetle: The joker, the businessman (unsuccessful), the
>loser, the friend, the optimist, and the guy, who don't think about
>anything else, once he's got an idea.
>-------------------------------------------------------------------
>WHAT ISSUE DID YOU DISLIKE MOST & WHY?  (Min: 6 lines)
>
>Umm.....that's a tough one. Hmmmmm....i'd say the issue of JLA,
>where Beetle and Booster went bounty-hunting vampires. The reasons i
>don't like it is, that it kinda went outside the JLI-theme, and i think
>bountyhunting is beneath both Beetle and Boosters dignity - especially
>when the subject is vampires. Besides, they felt bad about killing the
>vampire in the end...i mean...who feels bad about killing a /vampire/?!?
>
>
>-------------------------------------------------------------------
>HAVE YOU PLAYED OTHER MU*s? WHERE & AS WHO?
>
>Oooohhh, yes....i play Guy Gardner at MMX and H&V, and used to play him
>at DCL, wher i played Beetle as well. I also play Ursa Major at MMX, and
>Doc Samson at MXT.
