Protein-Protein Interactions

I am interested on algorithmic and computational approaches to estimate protein-protein interactions and

domain-domain interactions in molecular networks. At the moment I am interested in understanding domain-domain specificity in Two-Component Systems (TCS) from a genomic and structural biology point of view. TCS are of special importance for bacterial organisms  making their pathways relevant for drug design and biomedical applications.

Estimation of structural features of Domain Families

I am interested also in the use estimation methods that use large amounts of genomic information to infer structural features of single proteins or oligomers. Large availability of sequence data allow us to predict enriched residue couplets that form contacts in the 3D structure of proteins. These contact can also be dimerization contacts in quaternary complex formation.

Information Theory and Machine Learning

I try to apply general concepts and theoretical aspects of information and Machine Learning in molecular biology. Not only from the perspective of the ever increasing availability of biological information but also from the information processing and communication that occurs in the living cell.

Network Science and Graph Theory

I am interested in network science and graph theory as a tool to study complex relationships in living systems.
