Background

I am now Senior Lecturer II and Director of Internships,
in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies at
The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD).


I have held jobs ranging from Management Consultant, editor and writer, biofeedback instructor, stop smoking instructor, manager of a health education company, executive director of a worldwide economics research program at Princeton, executive director of a halfway house for schizophrenics, MIS consultant to NJ state government, researcher in child welfare programs, editor of biochemistry journals at Stanford, administrative assistant at Harvard Physics Dept., researcher in urban planning programs, etc. I've done many things, traveled many places, and therefore am ideal for the Interdisciplinary Studies Program.

Ph.D., Social Work (Public Policy and Administration), Rutgers University, 1983


Personal

I am also the wife of Dr. William Pervin, Retired Professor of Mathematics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, UTD, and mother of Hannah Pervin, a Biostatistics and Epidemiology master’s student at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Graduate School of Public Health (and cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh).

Teaching

At UTD I have taught: Introduction to Social Work, Deviance, Sociology of Health, GS core course in writing and critical thinking, The American Health System, and Drug and Alcohol Policy. I am available to do independent studies in health and health policy, social welfare, drugs and alcohol studies, and management issues.
