HOW TO SAVE A SCREEN IMAGE IN SOLARIS 2.x
The Sun Solaris screen/window snapshot program is called "snapshot" (duh!),
and it lives in the directory $OPENWINHOME/bin/xview/. Make sure that this
directory is in your search path. [$OPENWINHOME is the value of an
environment variable. You can find out the values of all of your environment
variables with the command "env".]
-
Make sure that the window of which you want to take a snapshot
is on top (in the foreground).
-
Launch the snapshot program. You will get a screen like this:
-
Choose the delay (the time that you want to elapse between the instant
at which you click on "Snap" and the instant at which the snapshot is
taken). A non-zero delay is useful if you want to get the cursor out of
the way.
-
If you choose "Window", you must use your left mouse button to select the
window of which you want a snapshot.
-
Before quitting snapshot, save the image.
-
You can print directly from snapshot, or you can
attach a saved .rs (Sun raster image) file to an email message
containing the text portion of your homework.
