The point is that when subtraction of two large numbers yields an answer much smaller than either, the sig. figs. in the answer may be smaller than in either. 62.35(4 sig. figs.) - 61.17 (4 sig. figs.) = 1.18 (3 sig. figs.) The precision limit is in the second decimal place throughout.**
