Anecdote from WWII.

Very pukka BBC correspondent is interviewing a Polish fighter-pilot
serving with the RAF, who has just been awarded a medal for gallantry.

Interviewer:  "Please tell our listeners what happend".

Pilot:  "Vell, I vos at 5,000 feet over the channel when I vas jumped
with dese tree fokkers which came out of the sun".

Interviewer:  "For the benefit of listeners, I should explain that a
Fokker is a type of German aircraft".

Pilot:  "Yes.  Dese tree fokkers were Messershmits."
