Subject: Some things I think would be great to see in ADOM.

I think it's time for more 'poetic' descriptions to apply to deaths.
It is very nice to see those really cool monster details and stuff: but
consider the following:
A huge monster hits you from 10hp to -60hp in one go (happend to me
before).  The game says:
"You die..."
A nasty wizard charboils you with a fireball.  The game says:
"You die..."
You fall down a pit. The game says:
"You die..."

You get the idea.  Wouldn't it be slightly more interesting if each
monster had a "death sentance" (pun).  A sentence that it would use when
it killed you.
Also, if monsters didn't kill you, a different sentance would be
printed.
how about...  <Warning... violence ahead>

"The <huge monster> hits you critically."
"Your dead body flew 10 feet before finaly crumpling to the floor."
or
"The Chaos-Ulta-MegaMage2000 (tm) casts an Evil Fireball (tm)."
"You are engulfed in flames!"
"A pile of ash is all that is left of you."
or
"You fall down a pit!"
"The last thing you hear is the sound of your own skull cracking!"
etc.
It would be fun to be YASD'd by a monster that has never killed you
before... strings like:
"The WMoPC has sucked the life out of you, and the goodness too."
and
"Slain, you join the Necromancer's minions."
and
"Your body writhes for several moments before finaly succuming to the
poison in your veins!"
and even really funny ones like
"Your soul flees your body, glad to be out before your killer, the mad
doctor, gets to work on it."
and misc. like "Your body is crushed like a pancake" (infamous falling
block).
I'm sure that it would add a lot of athmosphere to the game.

Here are some random ones that my brain leaked while writing this:
"You crumple to the floor and soon become covered in gremlins.
Feasting."
"As you breathe your last, you faintly hear the sobs of remorse from
Blupp the baby dragon" >:)
"Your lost thought is of horror as you realise that  the rat isn't going
to wait for you to be properly dead before starting to feast."
"The last words you hear are YoU WiLl NeVeR DeStRoY UsSsSsSs!" (Heheheh)

"The ratling swordsman bows to you and raises his sword as you die."
"You couldn't be expected to survive with your legs sticking out your
ears, now could you?"
"Your suddenly lifeless body topples over." (death ray)
"The writhing coils of energy do their deadly work." (zapped)
"You experence (very briefly) the feeling of your brain leaking out of
your eye sockets." (disgusting... but effective, especially when you use
a wand of wonder for a wish when your're a level one barbarian or
something.)
also:
"You don't see your assailant, but know that he has won." (blind or
something)
