About Me
My name is Ashley Willess and I am a junior Arts & Technology major at The University of Texas at Dallas.
From the first time I took crayon to the walls at the age of 3 to the time I graduated high school, my main focus was to create the illusion of three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional surface.
To broaden my horizons, I chose to take a Computer Graphics and Animation class offered at my high school. That class gave me a chance to work with a new media firsthand and it really sparked my interest in 3D computer animation and virtual environments.
I joined the Arts and Technology (ATEC) program at UT-Dallas in 2007. Many of my courses cover a wide range of different 3D computer animation aspects. In these classes I have learned how to construct 3D models and virtual environments, make realistic textures for use on 3D models, and create realistic lighting situations for different scenes.
Photography is the focus of my Visual Arts minor. I have experience with the development of black and white film, as well as printmaking in a photo darkroom.
While I'm at UT Dallas I hope to discover what my niche is and improve my skills in that area. After I graduate, I will have a wide range of skills using different mediums. My goal is to find a career that uses some or all of these skills and media together and combine all of the things that I love to do.
Then I can finally tell my mom that having to scrub those crayon murals off the walls was all worth it.
