I am a systems administrator in the AIS group at the
University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). For those that make a fuss
over labels, I seem to have acquired the title of Chief
Technologist. I doubt anybody really knows what that means, but
it sounds cool so I'm not complaining.
My focus is towards the infrastructure systems that keep our UNIX network buzzing along, or at least that's the intent. The e-mail servers tend to be my biggest preoccupation. Other areas of concern include some of the central file servers, the software management infrastructure, directory services, and various aspects of the account management system. Fortunately, we have an exceptional team of talented folks, helping to make this a rather enjoyable job. I started working at UTD in January of 1996. Prior to that I worked at the University of North Texas for 5 years, starting as a VAX operator, and then finally ending up as a UNIX admin. |
