A) Suggestions for a successful
final project.
1.
Select an image or a poem from the website.
2.
Study it deeply, going to outside sources to supplement your own
analysis.
3.
Talk to Prof. Argyros or one of the TAs about it.
4.
Once you understand the original fully, start thinking about your
transformation. Remember
that a transformation is essentially an act of recontextualization.
You need to decide what core of the original you are transforming
and then put that core into a context that is meaningful to you.
In other words, the more authentically yours the transformation
is, the more successful it will be.
5.
Talk to the TA into whose art form you will be transforming the
original.
6.
Keep up a dialog with the TA and with Prof. Argyros
B) All transformations must
be accompanied by a piece of paper on which you answer the following
questions:
1.
Why did you choose the art form into which you are transforming
the original? What
opportunities for expression does that art form offer?
2.
What in the original are you transforming?
Be specific. What image, theme, idea, emotion forms the core that will be
carried over from the original to
the transformation?
3.
What is the point of your transformation?
What message are you trying to convey?
These papers will
form a part of the grade for the final project. |
