Kathy White, our Laboratory Safety Manager, has received the Outstanding Employee of the Quarter Award.
"The Business Affairs Outstanding Employee Award was established to recognize outstanding performance and special achievements of Business Affairs employees."
This is the second employee award Kathy has received this year. Congratulations and thanks for all of your hard work, Kathy!

Currently, a burn ban is in effect for Collin County.

Welding Operation Guidelines- 30’ Radius (clear of any combustible material)
- Wind speed must be under 20 MPH (Maximum)
- Relative Humidity must be above 25%
- Mandatory fire guard watching with pressurized water extinguishers on site
- All persons welding outdoors must call EH&S (x4111) prior to work commencing. Undocumented welding will be considered in violation of the burn ban and subject to a fine and written documentation.
Outdoor Cooking Guidelines 
- All cooking devices that are propane or natural gas must have a complete enclosure.
- Wood or charcoal must have full enclosure at all times, including all areas around the cooking device must be clear of combustible debris for a 5’ radius

Our new website has been launched. As you can tell, we have a new design and all programs are now under the appropriate sections. All the pages should have a more consistent style to them. If you have any comments feel free to contact the webmaster.

On April 18, 2006, it was announced by the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Safety Council, Alan McMillan, that Esequiel Barrera of EH&S and Dr. Nicholas Valcik of UTD's Office of Strategic Planning are to receive an Award of Recognition from the Campus Safety, Health and Environmental Management Association's awards program. The award goes to the cooperative efforts of EH&S and OSPA for creating UTD's Logistical Tracking System, which has the capability of monitoring chemicals, alarms, all building plans and a variety of other variables using satellite GPS coordinates and Geographic Information Systems mapping.

Kathy White, our Laboratory Safety Manager, has received the C.A.R.E Award for Fall 2005. The C.A.R.E. Award is a program established by the Staff Council and approved by the President and his Cabinet to honor outstanding staff. This program will recognize staff who have demonstrated superior performance, offered outstanding customer service, and performed acts which have enhanced the image of the University. Congratulations Kathy!
